More on the big HR day
Some additional notes from Sunday’s big home-run day for the Osprey:
– The six home runs by the Osprey equal the team record … which has happened two other times. It is the first time it has happened on the road. On the other two occasions – August 25, 2004 vs. Casper, and August 3, 2007 vs. Billings – the Osprey achieved the feat at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.
– Eric Groff and Roidany Aguila become the third set of Osprey teammates to each hit two home runs in the same game. The others:
August 25, 2004 – Miguel Matos and Marcus Townsend, vs. Casper
June 21, 2003 – Johe Acosta and Carlos Gonzalez (yes, CarGo), at Great Falls
– Groff becomes the fourth Osprey player to have a pair of multi-homer games. The other three achieved the feat in the same season. They are:
Paul Goldschmidt – August 11 and 12, 2009 vs. Orem
Nelson Gomez – June 29 at Billings and August 24, 2008 vs. Helena
Marcus Townsend – July 16, 2004 at Provo and August 25, 2004 vs. Casper
– Groff’s grand slam is the first for the Osprey since … yeah, that guy … Paul Goldschmidt hit one on September 8, 2009 vs. Billings.
Time to stop dropping knowledge … Ric Flair’s theme (the original) is playing on the hotel lobby’s speakers.
