Sorry for the delay in getting this posted. I have learned that there are times, especially this time of the year, where sleep is your friend. For now, Draft picks 29-34 …

Round 29 – Adam McConnell, SS, Richmond/Yorktown, VA – R/R – 6-0, 187

Previously drafted in the 30th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2011 MLB Draft … Hit .283 this past spring with six doubles, two triples, two home runs, 24 walks, 12 stolen bases, and 24 RBIs … Tied for seventh in the Atlantic 10 in runs scored (45) … Ranked fifth in program history with 64 career stolen bases … Redshirted in 2011 after sustaining a hip injury following the 2010 campaign … Hit .288 in 2010 with nine doubles, 21 stolen bases and 29 walks against 23 strikeouts … Led the team in at bats (215) and steals (21), was second in walks (29) and third in on-base percentage (.390) … Also struck out the fewest times among everyday starters (23) … Named to the Ping Baseball Freshman All-America Team and Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team … Enjoyed one of the most prolific seasons by a Richmond freshman by leading the club in hitting (.355) with a school freshman record 31 stolen bases, which was the most by a rookie in the NCAA in 2009 and tied for the third-most by a Spider in a season … Selected as a top prospect at the Perfect Game National Underclass Showcase and picked as one of the state’s top prospects by Virginia Preps … Was a First Team All-District, All-Region and All-State selection on the heels of his senior season … Batted .604 in 2008 with 19 RBIs and 25 stolen bases after batting .340 as a junior … The speedster swiped 42 bases in his final two years… Other senior-year honors included the Daily Press Player of the Year, District Player of the Year and the Tabb HS Male Athlete of the Year … Honorable Mention All-State pick as a junior … Lettered three years in both baseball and indoor track.

Round 30 – Chase Stevens, RHP, Oklahoma State/Blanchard, OK – R/R – 5-10, 186

Was 7-4 in 22 appearances for the Cowboys, with a save and a 3.22 ERA … Struck out 84 batters in 67 innings pitched … Made four starts for OSU in 2012 … Was 11-6 at Seminole State College, including a 7-3 mark with a 2.65 ERA his sophomore season … Fanned 104 batters in 71 innings in 2011 … Threw a no-hitter against Butler County CC, striking out 12 in the game … Was a four-year letterwinner at Blanchard HS … Posted a 9-0 mark and 1.60 ERA as a senior … Also played four seasons of basketball … Has a twin brother, Chance.

Round 31 – Andrew Potter, RHP, Eastside HS/Lancaster, CA – R/R – 6-0, 208 

Has signed letter of intent to pitch for UC-Irvine … Was 7-4 in his senior season at Eastside, with a 2.26 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 65 innings of work … Also hit .333 with a pair of home runs for the Lions … Hit .500 with six home runs in his junior season … Has a power fastball and what the UC-Irvine coaches call a “put-away” curve, which a Baseball Factory post calls a slider …  Also can throw a change with late movement … Ranked among the top 10 players at the 2011 Under Armor Pre-season Tournament.

Round 32 – Daniel Watts, LHP, Jacksonville St./LaGrange, GA – L/L – 6/3, 190

Tied for the team lead with six wins, while posting a 4.35 ERA … Led the team with 89.0 innings pitched and 87 strikeouts … Opponents hit at a 250 clip … Made 54 appearances during his Gamecock career, posting a 15-19 record in 37 career starts … Logged a total of 200.2 innings with 193 strikeouts, and posted a career 6.32 ERA … Played for the Holyoke Blue Sox of the New England Collegiate Baseball League in the summer of 2011 … At Troup HS, was a four-year letterman … Named the LaGrange Daily News County Most Valuable Player and the Player of the Year his senior year … Was an All-State selection in 2007 and 2008 … Named to the All-County team his junior and senior years … Also lettered in football, where he was a second-team All-District selection … Was an honor student.

Round 33 – Jonathan Pulley, RHP, Spartanburg Methodist/Boiling Springs, SC – R/R – 6-2, 215

Was 4-3 with a 4.12 ERA this past spring for the Pioneers … Helped SMC to the NJCAA Division I JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colo., the new location of the Colorado Rockies Pioneer League affiliate … Dropped a 4-1 decision against eventual champion Iowa Western … Was a standout at Boiling Springs HS.

Round 34 – Jared Ray, RHP, Houston/Waco, TX – 6-3, 195 – R/R

Earned a Physhology degree while at Houston, and graduated with honors … Fifth-year senior was 11-13 with two saves and a 5.92 ERA in his Cougar career, logging 211.1 career innings pitched … Ray was a five-time Commissioner’s Honor Roll Recipient, was a 2nd team All-Conference honoree in 2009, a two-time member of the C-USA Championship All-Tournament Team, named to the 2008 NCAA College Station Regional All-Tournament Team, and recognized on the C-USA All-Academic Team this season … Pitched in the state championship game for Midway HS as a sophomore … Ranked No. 3 by Jason Becker’s Inside Prep Baseball Texas Top 25 … Member of the National Honor Society.
